Established as a public-private partnership in 1885 by a deed of gift in trust from Margaret Crocker to the City of Sacramento, today the Crocker Art Museum is the 66th largest art museum in North America and the center of culture for the Sacramento region. It ranks 32nd in ticketed admissions, 36th in the number of members, and 11th in the number of annual public program offerings.
The Crocker Art Museum is dedicated to promoting an awareness of and enthusiasm for human experience through art. We measure our success by our ability to enrich the intellectual and cultural life of the communities we serve. We strive to create and sustain a culture of learning in which works of art are perceived both as objects of visual delight and symbols of human thought.
